Happy New Year! How many new year resolutions did you make (and maybe have already broken)? How is that effecting your mental wellbeing and are you comparing your self to others that seem to be ‘smashing it’, well as far as it looks on social media?
It reminds me of a past post I did on Social comparison way back in 2021, have a look.

As you may have already read, I have started a new adventure being an Independent Usborne Partner, I am loving getting to know all the books that are available. As a Mum, I had no idea what their extent of stock was. Thinking it was mainly for the very young and all factual. That is definitely not the reality!
There are books from birth up to aged 14+/young adults! Non fiction and Fiction!
Why I love working with Usborne is that I totally agree with their business ethos, why they do the things they do, what they consider to be important in all their decisions.
The children at the forefront,
“Creating brilliant books for children of every age, ethnicity and gender”
In Fiction you have the likes of:
“Young crime lovers will snap up Serena Patel’s lively, funny Anisha, Accidental Detective.
” The Guardian
“This sleuthing-trip-cum-crime-solving spree has all the fizz of Jeremy Strong.” The Observer
“One of the funniest books you’ll read this year, with bundles of heart to boot.” Fiona Noble, The Bookseller
Different characters for different readers to relate to.
So Its good for children to see themselves reflected within the pages of a book, although stories can be also be escapism they may not ‘compare’ themselves to the character.
In real life, comparison and feeling ‘different’ can be the reason for alot of emotional unrest.
Have a look at the ‘All about’ series which can spark discussion with children and between their peers.
This is one of a range of 6 in the series, excellent resource for Emotional learning. which can be used my teachers or Parents.
Examples of whats available for free on the website! The Quick links sections are fantastic and free too.
Today is an especially good day to look at the website as the big sale is on!
One of the ‘All about’ books is in that sale, so grab it before they all go out of stock.
